DPS Nacharam students participate in Surakshit Khadya Abhiyan
The students of DPS Nacharam living up to their motto ‘Service before Self’ took part in the Surakshit Khadya Abhiyan, a national campaign to strengthen countrywide awareness and capacity building on safe and hygienic food for all.
Hyderabad: The students of DPS Nacharam living up to their motto 'Service before Self' took part in the Surakshit Khadya Abhiyan, a national campaign to strengthen countrywide awareness and capacity building on safe and hygienic food for all. This campaign is also aligned to the countrywide mission "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" This initiative was undertaken under FSSAI.
18 trained peer leaders of Delhi Public School, Nacharam from classes 11 and 12 were given an opportunity to attend a workshop on food safety and explain the same to children of a government school. This gave them an opportunity to take responsibility and understand how to convey such sensitive issue in the right manner.
This project was undertaken under the visionary guidance of Principal Sunitha Rao who always believes in motivating students towards hands on learning. On Saturday, 7th September 2019 the trained students along with Vice Principal Nandita Sunkara and a teacher D.Radhika visited the Government.School at Durga Nagar.
The children welcomed the team whole heartedly and were very excited. The students of Delhi Public School conducted a session each for different groups by showing a PPT on food safety measuresin convenient languages (Telugu and Hindi) for better understanding and also demonstrated the techniques of personal hygiene. The children were encouraged to practice them and spread the word to their family and friends. The students had a wonderful time talking to them about food safety. Program concluded with a vote of thanks to the School Head Master Seshagiri and other staff for giving them an opportunity for organizing the program.
The students of Delhi Public School participated wholeheartedly. It was a learning experience for them. A true test of their sensitivity, communication and people skill. It helped show their concern for the community at large. They felt that it was their pleasure and pride to give back to the society through this wonderful initiative.
