Children's Day celebrated with gaiety and verve
DPS, Nacharam: 'There is no garden as beautiful as childhood'
Children's day, one of the best days of the year for kids is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru in schools across the country.
At DPS, Nacharam, a colourful programme was presented by the Primary Teachers of classes III to VI at the morning assembly to celebrate Children's Day on November 14. All the teachers and children were looking bright and colourful in their modern and traditional attire. The programme began with prayer followed by tributes to Chacha Nehru. Teachers sang and enacted onstage to make the morning memorable. Based on the 'classroom scenario', the teachers performed a humorous skit which made the children burst out laughing. Later, the Principal Sunita Rao, addressed the children and encouraged them to dream big and work hard.
Many classroom activities like origami, vegetable printing on paper, photo frame with ice cream sticks, poster making and poetry writing on the topic "Fit India School" etc.… were organised and conducted for children . All students participated with great enthusiasm. Overall, it was a fun-filled day for both teachers and students.
Elate international school: One-day art exhibition raises 34,585 for orphanage
Hyderabad: Gone are the days when children were given chocolates and schools organised events accommodating dance, music and drama. Now, Elate International School celebrates this day in the most meaningful way possible. To celebrate Children's Day with a purpose, Art Elate, the arts club of Elate International School organised 'Art for a Cause', which is a fundraising event for children's charity. Started around 10.00 am, the event was organised with an ideology 'Children for Children'. Here, everything was done by children for the children in need. The concept was unique as. This time, it is the students who invited parents, grandparents and siblings as guests to attend exciting workshops at the school, to help them raise the money. Keeping adults in mind, the workshops have been divided into different parts that include Canvas Painting, Vase Painting and Clay Modelling.
One section of this programme boasts an art exhibition where students sold the painting and art décor items they crafted. Here, the art decor which was beautiful pieces of art were just not art decor but were handmade out of recycled waste materials.
Around 150 students created the unique art decors and paintings that were displayed at the exhibition. There were a total of 100 paintings and 75 art décor items for family members and guests to have a look at. Addressing the guests, the Chairman of Elate, Kareem Basha while inaugurating the art exhibition says, "We are very delighted to be organising this event. 'Art for a Cause' promotes two important values of Elate International School that we encourage in our students- the first one is to help the community and make the world around us a better place and the second one is to create environmentally conscious individuals.
"The main cause for this initiative is to raise money for an orphanage and the students have raised Rs 34, 585 through art exhibition and workshops they conducted. The students are going to buy essential supplies that these kids might need and also conduct an art workshop in the orphanage for 50 children. With the ideology 'Children for Children', our students are working hard to stand up for children in need. This is the core value of Elate- to make the world a better place," concluded Kareem Basha.
DPS, Nadergul: Fitness, culture focussed
The school celebrated Children's Day with multi-dimensional concept of fitness, culture and art aiming for holistic development of its pupils. The programme had embarked on with a session of aerobics and the children looked utterly endearing as they jiggled and wiggled to the peppy music! The prayer, school and inspirational theme song echoed throughout the green campus. Adhering to the guidelines, the students have taken 'Water Pledge' and the school has introduced water bell at regular intervals to ensure that children and teachers keep themselves hydrated.
The school in association with Viswaguru Records provided an opportunity to around 1200 students who had participated inpainting their imagination in monochromic style. All those paintings were arranged in a collage making it the largest painting with dimensions of 20X40ft. Over 500 students have displayed one more skill for a duration of 5 minutes by performing taekwondo with 167spectacularpunches within in one minute. The occasion was graced by the presence of Mr. S. Rambabu, Managing Director of Vishwasguru Records. Rambabu complimented the school and the students for being sportive and innovative. The Principal, Mrs. Padma Jyoti Turaga also appreciated and congratulated all the students and encouraged them to learn with lots of fun. The students were gifted with an apple which conveyed a message "an apple a day keeps the doctor away".
Pallavi Model School: Attempting a world record
An array of activities had been planned across the Pallavi group of schools to make the year more memorable. The activities planned involved critical thinking to engage the learners in reflective and independent thinking. One such activity is an attempt to create the mosaic of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam by making the most contributions to a Rubik's cube mosaic for entry into the Guinness Book of World Records with 400 plus students from all the branches of Pallavi group of schools. The event was organised at Pallavi Model School, Boduppal on Thursday. The adjudicators who witnessed the event were: Dr. Raghuvanshi Ram, Principal Scientist (CSIR), Dr. Kandeepan G, Sr.Scientist (NRCM), B Prasad, Superintendent of Customs and Central Tax (CGST) and P.Nagababu, Scientist (ISRO). The director, Sushil Kumar had declared the event open and Principal T Tanuja wished the students on their special day. The Chairman M Komaraiah in his address congratulated the students on this big achievement. Academic Director Dr.T.Sudha reiterated the vision of Pallavi group of schools and conveyed best wishes to students.
BHAVAN'S SRI RAMAKRISHNA VIDYALAYA: Child Rights' Week celebrated
Child Rights' week was celebrated on Thursday on the occasion of Children's Day in Bhavan's Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya, Sainikpuri in collaboration with Bachpan Bachao Andolan Team. The Principal B Jyothi Aparna welcomed the chief guest for the event, Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda Commissionerate. He stressed on the point that children are the future of the country and hence they must dream big and hold on to their dreams. He advised the children not to take any hasty decisions and must discuss with parents, as children are the only hope of the parents. The guest of honour, Uday Kumar, Senior Civil Judge, Secretary, District Legal services Authority, V Padmavathi, In-charge, Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust and Venkateshwarlu, State co-ordinator, Bachpan Bachao Aandolan also spoke on the occasion. Air Cmde(Retd.) JLN Sastry, VSM , Vice-Chairman, BVB Sainikpuri Kendra and Gp. Capt (Retd.) D Ramanaiah, Hon. Director, Bhavan's Sri Ramakrishna Vidyalaya also graced the celebrations and wished the children.
Scholastic India: Books donated to underprivileged kids
On the occasion of Children's Day, Scholastic India conducted a pan-India campaign to promote reading among the underprivileged children by reaching out to multiple NGOs across various cities. They hosted storytelling sessions in sixteen NGOs across the country and donated books to underprivileged kids.
Scholastic India donated over 100 books to each NGO and covered sixteen NGOs across multiple cities in the country under this initiative. To name a few, Brave Hearts from Kolkata, Sarthak, The foundation from Lucknow, Youngistan Foundation from Hyderabad, Kutumb from Delhi, Yet to Close from Gurgaon, Christel House from Raipur are a few NGOs where these sessions were conducted.
Children enjoyed these storytelling sessions and learned a lot from it. Reading not only exercises the brain but also improves concentration. It is one of the impactful ways of learning. The children at NGOs were happy and encouraged for reading with the sessions organised by Scholastic India.

GITAM, Hyderabad: The 'Joy of Giving'
"Management students should especially feel the 'joy of giving' and not just celebrate charity activities", said Prof. Y. Lakshman Kumar, Dean& Director, GITAM Hyderabad Business School. He addressed the students of MBA who were celebrating the annual event of "Joy of Giving" today, by bringing orphan children from a city based orphanage to GITAM campus and providing a good time to them. Prof. Lakshman Kumar narrated his personal experiences of providing the help and getting the help, while he was in the needy position. D.V.V.S.R. Varma, Resident Director, GITAM University, Hyderabad Campus, said the children deserved a good time on the campus and should feel that the experience was worth their long travel. He has been witness to this annual event for the past decade and always felt happy and inspired about the spirit of the MBA students. Murthy, Hostel Manager, 'T springs house', who participated in the event as a Guest of Honor, remarked that due to the benevolent nature of our tradition we never had orphans in the past. It is only when we forgot our traditional values, our society starting producing orphans. He was happy that the students of HBS were reviving the noble tradition of giving and spreading the joy of it.
The first year and second year students of MBA raised funds and provided the children of T springs house with sports kits and monetary donation. They conducted competitions in outdoor games and cultural activities for the children and gave away prizes. GITAM officials handed over a modest donation to the orphanage to the manager on behalf of GITAM University.
DAV High School, Nelatur:
The school Principal K Siva Prasad garlanded the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and recalled the words of our first Prime Minster of India "today's children are tomorrow's citizens". He also inspired the young minds, by saying children are very precious to the nation and are the future generations and the true promoters of our culture and heritage. The school also conducted various games for the all-round development of the students and awarded prizes.
Viswabharathi School: Cultural fest held
Cultural fest on Children's Day started with Ganapathi stotra and classical dance by students , overwhelming viewers' hearts. The Headmaster G Ramana Reddy presided over the function. The Correspondent J Anasuya Devi has read out the school annual report. The chief guest Venkata Ramana S I , IV town delivered a few words regarding social security and how the children are addicted to cell phones and the other social evils attentively. Students, who passed Class X during 2018-19 year were felicitated with mementoes and merit certificates.
