BITS Pilani, Hyderabad campus holds 8th Convocation

He said this while delivering convocation address as chief guest at the convocation ceremony of graduating students of 2019 of the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Hyderabad Campus here on Sunday.
He asked the students to make the best use of the emergent opportunities, nurture entrepreneurship and blend the knowledge streams to make their success cocktail. Prof Mehta is also an alumnus of BITS, Pilani.
Chancellor, Dr Kumar Mangalam Birla, in his message by paid homage to Late, B K Birla, who was a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute till his demise recently. He urged the graduating students to commit themselves to a life of learning and making unconventional choices which unleash the full creative potential.
Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Souvik Bhattacharyya, in his convocation address reminded the graduating students of the huge moral and intellectual capital they possessed and implored them to fearlessly choose the path that makes a positive impact on the lives of people.
Prof G Sundar, the Director of Hyderabad campus, reviewed the achievements of BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus for the 2018-2019 academic year and expressed confidence in the batch of outgoing students that time they had spent in the institute and the education they had obtained will help them face challenges in life with wisdom. He expressed his belief that the students would pursue their chosen professions with integrity, and serve the nation with humility.
In this convocation, 921 students have been awarded degrees, of whom 744 students received their first degrees, 146 students received their higher degrees, and 31 PhD scholars received PhD degrees.
The first-degree students who were awarded medals for their outstanding academic performances were Anirudh Srinivasan (Gold), V Thejas (Silver), Bhavsar Neel Hiteshbhai and Sangi Manish Rao (Bronze).
Apart from this, 15 first degrees and 87 higher degrees from the Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP) for working professionals were also awarded during this ceremony. This year's Distinguished Alumnus Award was received by Akila Krishnakumar.
