Aqua Regia - The Science Quiz 2019 Hyderabad girls win national final
The quiz that created a new Guinness World Record in 2007 has winners from Army Public School, Bolarum, Hyderabad this year
Hyderabad: Triumphant Institute of Management Education Pvt. Ltd. (TIME), India's leading test-prep institution conducted the 13th edition of 'Aqua Regia-The Science Quiz' for school students across the country. Aqua Regia - The Science Quiz has been certified by Guinness World Records (TM) in 2007 as the largest quiz ever held. The national final for Aqua Regia-2019 was held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Basheerbagh on Tuesday.
The all-girls team of Drishya Sudeep and Navya Singh from Army Public School, Bolarum, Hyderabad emerged winners of the 2019 edition of Aqua Regia beating the team of Kirhen Bhagavat and Nihal Amin from Bharathi Matriculation School, Coimbatore. Rajdeep Das and Sourish Das representing Delhi Public School, New Town, Kolkata secured the third position.
The winners were felicitated by P Viswanath, the founder-director of T.I.M.E. The winning team members of the national final were presented with Apple iPads. The first runner-up team was presented with Samsung tabs and the second runner-up team was presented with Amazon Echo Dot devices.
In the morning, the Hyderabad city final was held. It was an audio-visual round wherein Drishya Sudeep and Navya Singh from Army Public School, Bolarum emerged winners beating Dheeraj K. and Mohd. Sabeehuddin from Little Flower School, Abids. Both the teams eventually went on to participate in the national final. Around 15,000 students from 53 schools in the twin cities had participated in the Hyderabad city preliminary rounds which were conducted in the schools.
The quiz master and executive editor of the magazines division of TIME, Bharat C. Jain said that, "The response to this year's Aqua Regia exceeded our expectations. The mega quiz event was open to students of all streams from standard VIII, IX and X, and was being conducted across the country in 19 cities including Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Cochin and others. Around 1.5 lakhs students competed in the national circuit of Aqua Regia 2019. Started in 2006, this quiz has seen the participation of more than 23.5 lakh students from more than 30 cities over the years. It is the most awaited quizzing event at the inter-school level".
