Vijayawada: Girls topped the first and second year Intermediate examinations in the State with a pass percentage of 64 and 67 respectively. Boys achieved a pass percentage of 55 and 60 respectively.
Minister for Education Audimulapu Suresh on Friday released the results of Intermediate examinations. The Board of Intermediate Examination conducted the examinations in March 2020. Due to the Covid-19 lockdown the results were delayed by two months.
The Minister said Andhra Pradesh had attained the distinction of releasing the results of Intermediate ahead of other States.
In spite of hurdles faced by the Education department staff, the Board of Intermediate successfully completed the evaluation and other works and was able to release the results.
In the first year, a total of 5,07,230 students appeared for the examinations and 3,00,560 passed the examinations with a pass percentage of 59.
A total of 39,135 students attended the vocational courses first year examination and 16,195 passed the examination with the pass percentage of 41.
In the second year, 4,35,655 students appeared for the examinations and 2,76,389 students passed with a pass percentage of 63. A total of 26,713 students attended the second year vocational course and 13,762 students passed with a pass percentage of 52.
Girls topped the pass percentage in the examinations in both first and second years. A total of 2,57,619 girl students attended the first year examination and 1,64,365 have passed with the pass percentage of 64.
In all, 19,803 girl students attended the vocational courses first year examination and 10,173 passed with a pass percentage of 51.
A total of 2,22,798 girl students attended the second year examination and 1,49,010 students have passed the examination with pass percentage of 67. A total of 8328 students passed against the 13,628 girl students attended the second year vocational course with pass percentage of 61.
In the boys category, 55 percent passed the first year examinations. A total of 2,49,611 students appeared the examination and 1,36,195 students passed with pass percentage of 55.
While 19,332 boy students appeared the first year vocational examination and 6,022 students passed with pass percentage of 31. In the second year, 1,27,379 students passed the second year examination against the 2,12,857 students attended with pass percentage of 60.
A total of 5,434 boy students passed the second year vocational course against the 13,085 students appeared the examination with pass percentage of 42.
The Minister has announced that as the grading system was cancelled from this year, the first year results were declared in the form of subjects and marks and that grades would be announced for the second year. He said the marks memo would be available online from June 15 onwards.
He said no institution or college could publicise marks and photos of students to claim success.
Krishna district topped the state in pass percentage with 75 per cent overall followed by West Godavari with 65 percent and Visakhapatnam with 63 percent. Krishna and West Godavari got the first and second places in the second year results with pass percentage of 75 and 71 respectively.
Potti Sriramulu Nellore and Visakhapatnam districts secured 68 percent and stood in the third place. YSR Kadapa district stood last with pass percentage of 47 in the first year and Srikakulam district stood last in second year with pass percentage of 52.
Principal secretary Education department B Rajasekhar and Commissioner of the Board of Intermediate Education Ramakrishna V were present.
