Playing with colours and patterns

Deepali Tholia, fashion design student of INIFD, Hyderabad, recently showcased her designs at Lakme Fashion Week (INIFD Launch pad)event held in Hyderabad. Deepthi was chosen in a live voting process for her design concept "Cool at School". "The design is the outcome of my dream to wear fashionable and cool uniforms during the school days. When everything is trendy, why can't school uniform be a designer wear," asked Deepali.

"I have designed my school uniforms using cotton material and checks. I used checks pattern because when we think about a uniform, checks are the only pattern that comes in mind and I didn't wanted to remove the basic element. Functionality. wearability and the practicality is taken care of while designing these uniforms, besides being trendy and glamorous."

The 21- year-old has her own a fashion label too! It's called "label Deepali Thalia''. Her childhood was more than just a learning experience. Deepali says, "The experiences of my past are undeniable. It goes without saying that my childhood was more than just a learning experience. I remember every summer holidays my mother use to send me to summer camps and I loved sketching, painting and doing crafts.

And, now that I am a fashion designer; I enjoy making sketches of clothing that one day will hopefully be available in stores all over. My goal is to create clothing that is for all sizes, ages, and genders. In my clothing I want to show a creative side of my art ability."

"I remember my mother never made us wear readymade clothes for occasions like Diwali and marriages. We always used to mix match clothes, play with colours, think about the new patterns and customise a dress. The complete process of designing clothes made me fall in love with it."

Her inspiration is her mother and the journey as a fashion designer started when she turned 19-year-old. She adds, "As a child I have seen my mom customising clothes by choosing different materials and playing with various colours. For me my mom has been an inspiration and learning source. It all started when I and my mom gave a thought about starting our own label.

We rented a flat and opened an in-house boutique, went through a lot of ups and downs but most importantly learned a lot. My interest was always towards designing and fashion. I have had the opportunity to work with reputed designers in the past, where I have gained experience and understood everything step by step."

About Lakmé Fashion Week she says, "I got this opportunity as a student of INIFD. They gave us a huge opportunity to be a part of Lakmé launch pad, which in turn gives us the direct entry to LFW as a designer. All we had to do was clear three rounds. My show entry for LFW is in the month of November 2019, mostly. And, I am excited and looking forward for a lot of learning."

One will see exclusive pieces of clothing, different patterns, amazing colours, on point handwork, lovely tie and dye and perfect materials all under one roof in her collection. "Right now, I am not focusing on one thing. I take orders which are Indian , fusion and westerns.

But mainly we have our on-rack pieces, which are Indian and fusion, and I do enjoy designing them more." About the current trend she says, "I really feel that every fashion designer or influencer have their own trend going on. For me my current trend is bold summer colours."
