Indian Women Network (IWN) of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Telangana organized first of its kind 'Me First - A Women's Health and Wellness Conference' in Hyderabad. The conference aimed at addressing the big question – Why? What is the most common excuse woman have for not taking time for themselves to establish healthy habits? And what are the excuses woman have for not taking focus on herself and say 'Me First' when it comes to health
The conference was inaugurated by Minister of Health, Medical and Family Welfare, Govt. of Telangana, Eatala Rajendra, who emphasised the importance of women's health and also spoke about initiatives and schemes of Government of Telangana to improve women's overall health.
"Through Arogya Lakshmi scheme Telangana government provides one nutritious meal every day to pregnant and lactating women and children below the age of six through Anganwadi centres. SHE Teams are deployed for the safety and security of women and girls," he added.
Speaking on the occasion, V Rajanna, Senior Vice President, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Past Chairman – CII Telangana said, "There is a greater need to embrace wellness as an integral part of life cycle and only then can you give 100% to yourself, your family, organisation, and society as a whole.
I get many ideas and energy after every work out, and obviously become more active. Dr Nandita Sethi, Chairperson, IWN, Telangana, in her welcome address said, "Women can also hope for the possibility of enjoying a better quality of life, which is however possible, only if women themselves take charge of their own bodies and make their health a top priority. Mr Sameer Khan, CBO, Call Health, stressed on the fact that women's health was paramount in having a robust woman workforce and an overall healthy society.
Addressing the Conference, Sameera Reddy, Indian Actress shared, "The first step to managing your health is to acknowledge you have a health issue; then chalk out a game plan to lose weight or handle your weight issues. Take help of fitness experts and do things in groups because the peer pressure gets you going."
The conference brought together doctors, surgeons, therapists, fitness and wellbeing experts in different panels to discuss their viewpoints on how to make a woman can make health a priority for herself. The program was attended by about 250 members, guests and health/diagnostic based companies.
IWN of CII plans to make this an annual event to spread the importance of women's health amongst all stakeholders so as to improve the health of the communities and country we live in. Swathi Kantamani, Vice Chairwoman, IWN Telangana, Managing Trustee was also present at the event.
