Mumbai-based Karishma Sharma, the actress who is seen in the film Super 30, has her eyes set on making it big in Hindi film industry
Seen in the special number 'Paisa' from the film 'Super 30', the actress and dancer Karishma Sharma is all set to make her mark in the Hindi film industry.
She is ready to struggle her way out and break the stereotype barriers that are on the special numbers performed in movies.
The actress was last seen in 'Ragini MMS: Returns' and is also famously known for her character Tina in the 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2'. She shares her experiences in the film world.
Her love for acting inspired her to take up workshops. She says, "I did 'Ragini MMS: Returns' and after that I realised that I really want to work hard on my acting and I have been going to some acting workshops.
I would like to come across as a great actor than just be known for good looks, since that is all I have been getting nowadays. I am working hard to become a better actor each day.
I am doing a web series called 'Picture' where I have a good and a challenging role, which has a lot of shades in the character and I am super excited about it.
I think somebody whom I look up to in the industry would be Priyanka Chopra I think she has done very well for herself and I respect that lady."
She danced with Hrithik Roshan in film 'Super 30'. She shares, "I think it was intimidating in the beginning because he is a big star and I have seen him right from 'Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai'; I have grown up watching his films.
He is a very good co-actor and made me comfortable. He is a good person to work with. It was a great experience to work with Pankaj Tripati as well. I have seen him in 'Mirzapur', it was like a dream come true to work with him."
What made her choose to the special dance number? "I wouldn't say that I am a dancer; I used to dance when I was a kid - my mother used to send me for Kathak classes.
It happened by chance when Mukesh Chawla was casting for this song. Dacing is also a big part of acting career. But, I don't think I fear being side lined or type casted because of this one choice. You have to fight it and make your own mark."
She wants to work with Ranveer Singh - because I think he is a great actor and a performer, I heard is a good co-actor and I love his acting and his energy in the movies.
Every character that he has done, he looks different as he gets into the character, which is very inspiring - to see one work hard.
What were the challenges that you had to face when you entered the film industry?
I think in the start it is very difficult and I struggled. There were a lot of rejections in the start' I remember once a director telling me 'Isko Yaha Se Nikalo, Isko Acting Nahi Athee'.
I think, I have worked really hard since I started acting when I was 18 and I am 25 now. I have been acting for seven years now.
I have learnt each day, I think it is difficult for people who do not come from the film background and I came from Patna, which is a very small town and I had no idea about films. I think that it is more about your journey. I still have a long way to go.
What suggestions do you give the young aspiring women who would want to enter film industry?
I would say that, if you have dreams just keep believing in your dreams and yourself. There will be a lot of challenges that would come by, but those are just better things.
If you fight that day, you will become a stronger person. Do not fear being stereotyped because it will affect you.
What are your future projects?
I am getting some narrations and I am looking to do some more webseries, where I can perform as an actor.
