Olaf from 'Frozen 2' speaks in Telangana dialect
Olaf from the film 'Frozen' and its sequel 'Frozen 2' is the friendliest snowman in all of Arendelle. As the fans of this character know Olaf is innocent, outgoing and loves all things summer. He may be a bit goofy, however, his genuineness and down to earth temperament makes him a true friend to the sisters Anna and Elsa. This funny character is being voiced by funnier Priyadarshi Pulikonda in the Telugu version of 'Frozen 2'. Priyadarshi became a household name after the superhit film 'Pellichoopulu' and his portrayal of Mallesham in the eponymous biopic garnered rave reviews.
"It was a quite challenging experience to do dubbing for an international movie, in terms of the production. And also, I dubbed for a Tamil movie and have never dubbed for an animated film," Priyadarshi shares and adds: "It reminded me of my childhood days where I used to watch cartoons and think who gives voices to these characters. I think now I have firsthand experience (laughs)."
Excerpts from an interview
How did you connect with the character?
Olaf as its character ever since the first film was very well written and designed. This is powered with knowledge and cuteness. In that way the character worked out well, in this I spoke in Telangana dialect.
How do you see dubbing in Telugu film industry?
It is on the rise in the market right now. The so-called barriers between content and the streaming of wars which is going on right now, it is all about good content that is coming up irrespective of the language. It is not just about the language but also the remakes that are lined up. I feel that it is a rise for both commerce and arts. I see this growing towards the progressive side in terms of expansion of the Telugu market.
After 'Mallesham', did you get any offers to play a lead character in the films?
Yes, I did get many offers, however, they were not something that really interested me.
What kind of roles do you prefer?
When I hear a story and I feel it is good I work on it. Something that entertains and connects with the audience on an emotional front is something that I like to play. There is nothing like a parameter of roles, but something that connects me emotionally as well is what I like.
Are you working on any web series?
I am already doing one called 'Pavilion', which is produced by Annapurna Studios. It is a sports drama and the shooting is underway.
Tell us about your upcoming projects?
There is an untitled film starring Sharwanand and another movie 'Jaathi Ratnalu' written and directed by Anudeep KV will release early in next year.
What interests you apart from movies?
Travelling interests, me a lot. I read books whenever I get free time. I watch a lot of content on Netflix and I basically binge watch series and documentaries.
