If you remember the flashy shiny CD's and the disco songs back from the 90s, you are in for a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Holographic Trend was right there in the '90s and it has made a comeback of sorts with it becoming quite a trend this year by captivating everyone on the runway. Designers such as Stella McCartney, Burberry, Blumarine and even Jonathan Saunders showcased holographic fabrics way back in 2013 for their S/S 2013 women's collection. This space-age style has made come back yet again and still continuing its shine and radiance. Taking inspiration from the 70's glam punk era, this trend screams celebration and looks gorgeous in pictures and selfies with its retro-futuristic vibe. It has made a mark in the world of beauty as well with elements of glitter and metallic trend to create something that's bold and the experimental. Iridescent colours are everywhere this year radiating holographic magic making the streets shine a lot brighter. The fashion industry is taking this holographic trend across all major fashion cities and our leading fashion divas from the film industry are no exception who are bitten by the holographic trend. Indian fashion designers Amit Aggarwal, Monisha Jaising, among others have beautifully brought the trend into the Indian fashion scenes as well.
It is pretty obvious that the holographic colour is kind of the new black in town and that it's here to stay for a while. It is, however, very important to know how to pull off the trend without looking like a shiny disco ball. Holographic fashion might seem like a bit of a stretch when it comes to actually pull it off, but with these tips, you can happily embrace the trend without seeming like you're trying too hard.
Limit the holographic colour to evening events and you can pair your little black dress with an iridescent jacket and make sure there is only one reflective colour in your look. If you are sporting a holographic cocktail dress, make sure your footwear is in a neutral colour, don't go overboard by wearing top and bottom in the reflective colour. Go neutral either on top or bottom and if you are not very confident about pulling off the technicolour, try wearing a holographic mini skirt with a basic shirt and stick to whites, blacks and greys. A holographic mini will be an amazing alternative to a sequined mini which has become way too common now.
For a daytime look, add a touch of iridescence to your look in the form of accessories. Throw on a holographic backpack or clutch to add a unique element of spunk to an otherwise dull outfit, so if you're wearing something that you feel is average and needs a bit of zing, all you need to do is throw on a holographic backpack. This will look best on an all-black outfit, be it a dress or even joggers with a basic t-shirt. A belt or a bracelet will work to add a pop of colour to your plain-Jane outfit. You could also opt for holographic sneakers and team it up with almost anything and look like you've jumped straight out of a sci-fi flick in the most acceptable way ever.
You can take a day look to night by adding holographic jewellery to it. A small piece of an accessory can make a huge difference to your look. Holographic chokers will give you the liberty to explore the holographic fashion trend and you can go holographic on your eyes, lips, and nails as well. But remember, it should be either eyes or lips or nails, and not all three at one time.
