‘Raju Weds Rambai’ lead pair opens up about their film’s journey

Akhil Raj and Tejaswini, the lead pair of the upcoming romantic drama Raju Weds Rambai, opened up about their journey and the film’s emotional depth during a recent interaction. The film, directed by Sailu Kampati and produced under Dolamukhi Subaltern Films and Monsoons Tales by Venu Udugula and Rahul Mopidevi, is set for release on November 21.
Hero Akhil Raj shared that becoming an actor was his lifelong dream. After working as an anchor and photographer, he transitioned into short films and later acted in Vindubhojanam. For Raju Weds Rambai, he underwent dialect training and learned to play the dappu drum for two months. He revealed that the character Raju reflects the journey of every young man in love, filled with pain, joy, and defiance. The film’s intense climax left him emotional while reading the script, and he believes audiences will deeply connect with Raju’s struggles. Akhil expressed confidence that this film will be a turning point in his decade-long journey.
Heroine Tejaswini, who began her career in 2019, said she was chosen after the team felt she suited the layered role of Rambai. She trained extensively in the Telangana dialect and portrayed the character as envisioned by the director. Tejaswini revealed that the climax sequences were emotionally draining, calling the last 30 minutes “hard-hitting.” She believes Rambai will stand out as one of Telugu cinema’s well-written female characters.
Both actors said the film carries the emotional weight of classics like 7/G Brindavan Colony and Sairat, and expressed confidence that Raju Weds Rambai will resonate strongly with audiences when it hits theatres.
