Premane Oorilo is the Telugu dubbed version of the blockbuster Kannada film Premada Oorali that starred Sriram and Tapaswini Poonacha in the lead directed by Manoj Kumar blends romance, family drama and a simplistic message about relationships, agriculture and rural life. It has a clean narration which connects to the audience in a better way. Let’s see how it fares at box-office.

Story

Santosh (Sriram), who lost his mother at a young age, is brought up by his father Naganna (Rangayana Raghu), who is a simple farmer. Santosh, who is content with his simple village life, however, has his own conditions for marriage. Vasantha (Ramika Shiv), a spirited village girl, secretly loves him, while Rukmini (Tapaswini Poonacha), a US-based businesswoman who broke up with her boyfriend comes to his life all of a sudden. When Naganna asks him to marry his friend’s daughter, Santosh’s life turns upside down as he deals with the expectations of his father, the love for Vasantha and the confusion around him. The film deals with topics concerning relationships, misunderstandings, sacrifices and the meaning of true love in a beautiful manner.

Performances

Sriram is simply brilliant as the innocent Santosh, whose confusion in the second half is beautifully portrayed. Ramika Shiv is adorable as Vasantha and her emotional scenes are heart-warming, while Tapaswini Poonacha suits the role of Rukmini in looks and charm, though could have performed better in emotional scenes. The highlight of the performance is Rangayana Raghu as the loving father Naganna, whose rapport with his son is simply heart-touching and the emotional scenes involving him are the best in the film.

Technicalities

Manoj Kumar, who has not gone for typical action sequences, has focussed on relationships and the father-son equation in a better way. In fact, the film lacks in the area of high-octane drama, but makes up with the emotional aspects of the story. Rajkanth, the cinematographer, should be appreciated for the beautiful countryside visuals, while the music by Sunad Gowtham is melodious and has the perfect background score. The meaningful lyrics of the songs have been well rendered. The Telugu dialogues by Hanuman Chowdary, who has worked in KGF and Kantara, add more spice to the dubbed version. The film has good production values and a crisp screenplay that keeps the viewer engaged throughout. But a few trimming here and there in the first half and better dubbing could have made it more enjoyable.

Analysis

Premane Oorilo is a treat for the fans of rural Telugu love stories, which focusses on innocent relationships and strong family values. The first half, which is more of a light-hearted affair, picks up speed in the second half after the interval. The flashbacks of Naganna and the last few minutes are simply heart-touching and will surely leave the audience in tears. The film have few slow patches and predictable turns of events, but manages to connect with the audience with its simplicity. With good music, emotional quotient, beautiful village landscapes and great performances, especially by Sriram and Rangayana Raghu, this film will surely strike a chord with the family audiences and those who love a simple love story with a strong social message.
