With a career of nearly two decades and around 20 films, dubbed, remade and about to be released, Gautam Vasudev Menon has been a known name in the southern film industries. Seen recently in the Tamil dubbing ' KanuluKanulanuDochayante', a sleeper hit as an obsessed police officer, Gautam's acting potential was highly appreciated by fans in both the languages. In fact, it has been a recent trend that he has been approached by directors from the new gen for a pivotal role in their films to boost its weight at the BO.

Recent reports in the Tamil media have been suggesting that he has been cooling his heels during the lockdown sorting out the incomplete scripts he has and trying to make it work. His recently directed films all have either failed to appeal or have been found to be stuck for long in the cans, the one with Chiyaan Vikram being an apt example for various reasons.

Despite these setbacks, Menon has continuously been offered roles in films of new directors which he has been accepting and playing around with, citing his own justifications for doing so. It should be remembered that Gautam was a great hit with the teenyboppers in the first decade with 'Cheli' as his maiden offering and ' YeMaayaChesave' in 2010, the songs of which are still a rage, composed by A R Rahman. Will, he still pull off a few hits to stay in the reckoning is the million-dollar question today, however.
