Disappointing The Way Industry Reacted To Me Too Movement Says Ashwini Chaudhary
Filmmaker Ashwini Chaudhary says he is disappointed the way Industry reacted to Me Too Movement and no action were taken against culprits.
Filmmaker Ashwini Chaudhary says he is disappointed the way Industry reacted to Me Too Movement and no action were taken against culprits.
The filmmaker Ashwini Chaudhary was interacting with media on the sidelines of Setters trailer launch. The film features Ishita Dutta, who is sister of Tanushree Dutta, the mighty woman, who started the Me Too Movement in India.
When asked about Me Too Movement in India and its response, Ishita Dutta refused to comment but the filmmaker Ashwini Chaudhary, who has worked with Tanushree spoke very eloquently.
He said, "It is not about being a woman or man; I think as a director of Setters, I would like to make a statement. Of course we're disappointed, I have done a film with Tanushree (Good Boy, Bad Boy), and I think the initiative which she took is great, because of that things have changed in industry. People are scared now to misbehave, the things have changed in that sense"
"But people who were culprits, the type of action which should have been taken and the way film industry should have reacted, it didn't happen. The film industry didn't react in the way it should have. People should have come out more strongly against the people who misbehaved; people should have taken a stand. I took a stand; I am still taking a stand"
Further adding filmmaker Ashwini also took a dig at Ishita Dutta in tongue in seek style. He added, "I think if this question about Me Too, is asked whether during the promotion of the film, or on a political stage, or some comedy show is going on, I think it should be answered"
The film, Setters boasts an impressive ensemble, which includes names like Shreyas Talpade, Aftab Shivdasani, Sonnalli Seygall, Vijay Raaz, Pavan Malhotra, Ishita Dutta, Jameel Khan, Neeraj Sood and Pankaj Jha along with many others.
The film is produced by Vikash Mani. Set in Banaras, Jaipur, Mumbai and Delhi, the film is scheduled to release in 3 May 2019.
