As we all know, massive protests are being held in various regions of the country because of the recent decision regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB). As soon as the Modi government passed the bill, there has been disturbances across many states, especially in Assam, where people have come on the streets to protest. The disturbances are spreading so rapidly that last night a massive ugly showdown between the students of Jamia University and Delhi Police was witnessed. The student protesters were beaten up by the policemen and some were even taken hostage by them without giving any news about their whereabouts.
This brutal scenario has raised many questions about the rights and freedom of the citizens and people are questioning the Delhi Police for their actions against the students. Amid this, many Bollywood celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu and Rajkummar Rao took to their social media handles to express their opinion. In response to Akshay's like to a tweet that justified gruesome act by the police, he tweeted, "Regarding the 'like' on the tweet of Jamia Milia students, it was by mistake. I was scrolling and accidentally it must have been pressed and when I realised I immediately unliked it as In no way do I support such acts."
Similarly Taapsee shared a video of the protest tweeted, "Wonder if this is a start or the end. Whatever it is, this is surely writing new rules of the land and those who don't fit in can very well see the consequences.
This video breaks heart n hopes all together. Irreversible damage, and I'm not talking about just the life n property." Rajkummar Rao also visibly seems upset with the on going condition of the country and expressed his sorrows. He wrote, "I strongly condemn the violence that the police have shown in dealing with the students. In a democracy the citizens have the right to peacefully protest.I also condemn any kind of act of destruction of the public properties. Violence is not the solution for anything!"
