Hyderabad: Park Hyatt Hyderabad on Tuesday said it has partnered with WaterHealth India to set up an IoT enabled and AI-powered water purification and glass bottling unit at its hotel premises.
Park Hyatt Hyderabad, with an aim to reduce plastic waste by 2021, has taken up this initiative of installing a water purification and glass bottling unit.
"Across the world, every minute, 10 lakh plastic bottles are purchased. From our hotel, around 2.5 lakh plastic bottles enter India's landfills as waste, every year.
This initiative is a step towards meeting our target of going plastic free," the Area Vice President-South India and General Manager of Park Hyatt Hyderabad, Thomas Abraham said.
WaterHealth India said, each purification and bottling unit, is assembled at its plant near Hyderabad. The unit assembled in hospitality sectors, such as Park Hyatt costs around Rs 75 –80 lakh.
The company which also sets up WaterHealth Centres for consumers under a public private partnership with municipal corporations, installs these units at a cost of Rs 35 lakh, it added.
"The WaterHealth Centres for consumers or purifying and bottling units for corporates are set up under an agreement, wherein the land, water and electricity is provided by the government or company, whereas the unit cost is borne by WaterHealth.
Under corporate vertical, Park Hyatt is our first customer in India, and we look forward for many such partnerships in the hospitality sector," the COO of WaterHealth International, Vikas Shah said.
