Hyderabad: The 11th Annual Convention of National Association of Realtors-India (NAR-India) got off to a glittering start at HICC in the city on Saturday. The Hans India is the media partner for the two-day mega national event which saw participation from real estate consultants and brokers from 40 cities across the country.
Hosted by the Hyderabad Realtors Association (HRA) and co-hosted by Bengaluru-based Confederation of Real Estate Associates (India) (CREA(I)), the conclave themed 'Game Changers' is considered as the biggest realty event in the country. Realtor is the American term for real estate broker or consultant.
"Over 1,500 delegates from across the country are attending the 11th Annual Convention. We are covering a wide range of subjects that will benefit the participants," Sumanth Reddy Arani, president, HRA, told The Hans India.
He assumed charge as president of NAR-India on Saturday and will continue in the coveted position for one year.
"We have taken 'Game Changers' as the theme for the convention because real estate market is undergoing fast changes in the recent times and there is an immediate need to equip real estate consultants with expertise to deal with the changes," he said.
"Realtor is the second oldest profession in the world. We are the second largest employment provider. We contribute 17 to 18 per cent of the country's GDP. The central government must listen to us and solve our issues," Ravi Varma, Chairman, NAR India.
Celebrity chef Sanjiv Kapoor delivered an inspirational lecture at the convention on the first day. BVR Mohan Reddy, former chairman of Nasscom, and founder of city-based software Cyient, who spoke on 'Go Above & Beyond- The Making of An Entrepreneur', underlined the need for maintaining values while building an enterprise.
Other topics covered on the first day include REITs (Real Estate Investment Trusts). On Sunday, there will be seven sessions dealing with different topics.
"We have taken up key topics like RERA, marketing, communications, startups and a lot more so that all the delegates will have a rich experience to take back with them," said Sumanth Reddy.
