AIG Hospitals joins Mayo Clinic Network
AIG Hospitals, a unit of Asian Institute of Gastroenterology on Thursday announced that it received membership of Mayo Clinic Care Network, a US-based not for profit organisation.
Hyderabad: AIG Hospitals, a unit of Asian Institute of Gastroenterology on Thursday announced that it received membership of Mayo Clinic Care Network, a US-based not for profit organisation.
As a member of Mayo, AIG has gained access to the knowledge pool available with the Care Network. Dr David Hayes, Medical Director, Mayo Clinic Care Network, said, "Mayo has a network of over 5,000 physicians.
With this agreement in place, AIG Hospitals will have access to consult these specialists for complex patient's health case, knowledge sharing related to medical research, live video conferences, second opinion on specific patient cases and clinical information."
Hayes further said, after 18 months of observation on lines of AIG's finance, legal, nursing, patient care etc, the board members of Mayo approved to enroll the Indian hospital as a member.
At present, Mayo Clinic Care has 45-member organisations from across the US, in which nine are international members.
AIG Hospitals is the first hospital from India to be a part of this network. The other countries include Singapore, South Korea, Mexico, Dubai etc.
As member organisation of this network, AIG Hospital will have to pay an annual subscription fee, said Dr D Nageshwar Reddy, CMD, AIG Hospitals informed.
"With this collaboration, patients and physicians of AIG Hospitals will be supported with international clinical expertise and medical knowledge.
We are already in talks with Mayo to work on a research related to gastroenterology," Dr Reddy added.
