Anantapur: YSRCP in the district made deep inroads into the TDP fortress in the district by wresting all the 12 Assembly seats from the TDP. With the exception of Hindupur and Uravakonda Assembly segments, TDP has lost in all the remaining 12 Assembly segments in the district dealing a stunning blow to the morale of the party rank and file.
The TDP leaders are trying to grapple with their ignominious defeat and reflecting on why they could not sense the avalanche that was to come upon them. In Anantapur Assembly segment Anantha Venkatarami Reddy, a 3-time MP won over his shrewd TDP rival Prabhakar Chowdary by a margin of 28,434 votes in a multi-cornered contest involving BJP, Jana Sena, Congress and a host of independent candidates.
In Rayadurgam constituency, YSRCP candidate Kapu Ramachandra Reddy defeated his nearest TDP rival Kalava Sreenivasulu, a cabinet minister in Naidu's cabinet by a majority of 14,476 votes. In Kalyandurgam segment, YSRCP candidate Usha Sri won over her rival TDP candidate Uma Maheshwar Naidu by a margin of 19,534 votes in a multi-cornered contest involving even the APCC chief N Raghuveera Reddy.
In Singanamala constituency, Bandaru Sravani Sri of the TDP lost in the hands of YSRCP candidate Jonnalagadda Padmavathi by a margin of 46,163 votes in a multi-cornered contest involving even former Congress minister S Sailajanath.
In Raptadu Assembly constituency, Topudurthi Prakash Reddy of the YSRCP won over his nearest TDP rival Paritala Sriram, the son of the towering TDP leader and minister Paritala Sunitha by a margin of 25,575 votes.
In Puttaparthi, YSRCP candidate Sridhar Reddy defeated the powerful Palle Raghunatha Reddy of the TDP, who is also a former minister by a majority of 30,338 votes. In Dharmavaram constituency, YSRCP candidate Kethireddy Venkatarama Reddy trounced the powerful TDP sitting MLA Gonugundla Suryanarayana by a margin of 15,288 votes.
In Tadipatri constituency Kethireddy Peddareddy of the YSRCP defeated his nearest TDP foe Ashmith Reddy, who is a novice in politics by a majority of 7,994 votes, thereby casting down the mighty JC family member much to the shock of everyone.
In Penukonda Assembly segment, YSRCP candidate and district party unit president Sankara Narayana trounced the powerful TDP sitting MLA and TDP party district president BK Parthasarathi by a margin of 14,859 votes. In the Madakasira Assembly constituency, YSRCP candidate Thippeswamy defeated his TDP rival K Eranna by a margin of 13,136 votes.
In Kadiri constituency, YSRCP candidate Dr Sidda Reddy defeated his rival TDP candidate Kandikunta Venkata Prasad by a margin of 27,063 votes. All the elected YSRCP MLAs have reached Vijayawada on Friday evening to attend the YSRCP legislature party meeting slated for Saturday to elect Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy as the YSRCP Legislature Party leader.
