Tirupati: Ensuing safety and serenity of famous pilgrim city is a must to protect the interests of all sections - locals, business community, employees and the pilgrims. Any failure in maintaining peace and spirituality of the city will have an adverse impact on pilgrim flow on which the city's economy is heavily depending on, said sitting MLA and TDP Tirupati Assembly candidate M Suguna.
Speaking at the `Meet the Press programme' held at Press Club here on Sunday, Suguna without mincing words said that voting in favour of YSRCP will endanger peace in the city affecting the locals, traders and the pilgrims. Citing various incidents of violence involving her rival YSRCP nominee Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, she said that keeping in view of the past experiences the voters should act wisely to keep away the rowdy elements detrimental to the peace in the city.
Stating that she never encouraged anti-social elements nor indulged in any crimes, TDP leader said that it is the voters' responsibility to save the image of the city which earned national reputation of most liveable city. She also refuted the allegations against her son-in-law Sanjay whom she declared as her political heir. ``After the sudden death of my husband M Venkatramana, it is Sanjay who is taking care of the family affairs and also supporting in my programmes as MLA,'' she said.
At recent public meetings, YSRCP leaders and JSP chief Pawan Kalyan made land grabbing allegations against the MLA. Sanjay dared them to prove the charges. ``I am prepared to give away the property to them if they prove that I got them on illegal methods'' she challenged.
Stating that the city is witnessing rapid development due to `smart city project' under which several development initiatives were taken up with an out lay about Rs 2000 crore, she said that it is essential to elect TDP for the continuation of the development launched by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
On the Tirumala locals problem she said that many of the issues were resolved and the remaining will also be settled after election. She exuded confidence of winning the elections based on the performance of Chief Minister Naidu government.
