With government issued notification to nominate trust boards for various temples in the district, many aspirants have begun efforts to win the hearts of senior political leaders in the district.

Srikakulam: With government issued notification to nominate trust boards for various temples in the district, many aspirants have begun efforts to win the hearts of senior political leaders in the district.

In total, 35 temples have been identified by the endowment department officials across the district which are having more Rs 2 lakh and up to Rs 25 lakh yearly net revenue.

Interested candidates can apply through online till October 14, said Endowments Assistant Commissioner Yerramsetti Bhadraji. Executive officers of the concerned temples will prepare the list of aspirants after receiving applications.

Out of 35 temples, 12 temples are located in Srikakulam city as Umarudra Koteswara temple, Venkateswaralayam at Fazulbegpeta, Sontoshimaatha temple, Jagannadha temple, Laksheswara temple, Kodandarama temple, Sri Venkateswara temple at Chinna Bazaar, Bhimeswara, Kanakadurga, Laxminarasimha, Kameswara and Eekambareswara temples.

Remaining 23 temples are being located across the district, Maninageswara near Srikurmam, Venugopalaswamy at Salihundam, Agasteswara at Ampolu, Venkateswara at Narasannapeta, Narasimhaswamy at Srimukhalingam and Seetharama temple at Ganasara.

All these temples are located in 10 Assembly segments across the district. Pressure is high in Srikakulam segment as 15 temples are being in this assembly segment in Srikakulam and Gara mandals.

Aspirants are making efforts to protect their political existence by getting post in the trust board. Srikakulam MLA D Prasada Rao is reportedly receiving several requests from aspirants in this regard. In addition to it, aspirants are making efforts through Roads and Buildings Minister Dharmana Krishna Das and Legislative Assembly Speaker Tammineni Sitaram.
