Tirupati: After the date for withdrawals of nominations for MPTC and ZPTC elections ended on Saturday, YSRCP secured majority of seats unopposed. Out of 858 MPTC candidates, 342 were declared elected unopposed in the district. Of them, 323 candidates belong to YSRCP while 19 were from TDP. Out of 65 mandals, in 28 mandals YSRCP candidates have won majority of seats. Majority MPTC and ZPTC seats in Chandragiri Assembly constituency have gone in favour of YSRCP. Out of 95 MPTC seats in six mandals of the constituency, ruling YSRCP won 86 MPTCs whereas four seats gone in favour of opposition TDP as their candidates only remained in the fray finally.

The remaining five seats will go for polls to be held on March 21. With this, YSRCP is all set to win six MPP chairperson posts also for which the indirect election will be held on March 30. Out of six ZPTC seats, YSRCP has bagged five and only one seat gone for elections. The one ZPTC seat and five MPTC seats are located in Chandragiri mandal only where YSRCP is said to have edge over TDP. Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy has worked out strategies to see majority of seats in his constituency become unanimous. His son C Mohith Reddy has won unopposed from Perumallapalli – 1 MPTC seat. Apart from Chandragiri, YSRCP dominated in Punganur, Srikalahasti, Piler and Thamballapalli and won most number of MPTC seats unanimously.

Out of 65 ZPTC seats, 29 seats have become unanimous. For ZPTC elections 480 candidates have filed their nominations of which 62 were rejected during scrutiny. In the remaining 418 nominations 140 candidates have withdrawn their papers on Saturday leaving 278 candidates in fray for elections to be held on March 21. With 29 seats have gone in favour of YSRCP it became certain that the ZP Chairperson seat will go into its account. Meanwhile, the candidates who have remained in fray from various parties have submitted their B-Forms.
