YSR statue to be reinstalled at park near police control room
The State government has decided to reinstall the statue of former Chief Minister late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy near the police control room here.
Vijayawada: The State government has decided to reinstall the statue of former Chief Minister late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy near the police control room here. The statue was removed from the police control room junction by the TDP government before Krishna Pushkaralu. The statue was removed and placed in the State fire services office which is located very near to the police control room.
After the YSRCP came to power, the government has decided to reinstall the statue in the park, which is very close to the flyover bridge near police control room.Minister for Municipal Administration Botcha Satyanarayana, Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivas, Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, Municipal Commissioner Prasanna Venkatesh and others inspected the park near the police control room on Saturday for installation of the giant bronze statue of Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
The YSRCP leaders raised hue and cry when the statue was removed from the junction under the TDP rule. Keeping in view the Krishna Pushkaralu and increasing traffic in the city, the TDP government had removed the statue and demolished the huge pedestal. Former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal had installed the statue in memory of the departed leader.
YSRCP functionaries started cleaning the statue located in the compound of State fire services office near Police control room. The statue gathered dust as it had been kept open in the busy junction nearly four years.
