YS Jagan Mohan Reddy betrayed grannies, granddads: TDP
- Former Minister and senior TDP leader Ch Ayyanna patrudu lambasts CM Jagan for his failure to keep the promise of increasing the old-age pension to Rs 3,000
- Ayyanna laments that after Jagan Reddy came to power, Visakhapatnam had slipped into the hands of land-grabbers and the Pulivendula-style settlements became the order of the day
Amaravati: Former Minister and senior TDP leader Ch Ayyanapatrudu on Sunday asked how the YSRCP government could claim any credit over welfare of the people when it could not fulfill the Rs 3,000 pension promise made to the elderly people in the State.
Ayyana accused Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of betraying even the grannies and granddads by not increasing their pension by Rs 1,000 as per his 2019 election promise. The Chief Minister made the people believe in his promises by saying that they were as sacred as the holy books like the Bible, the Quran and the Bhagavad Gita.
In a statement here, the senior TDP leader asserted that it was during the five-year regime of Chandrababu Naidu that the old-age pensions were increased by Rs. 1,750. Whereas, there was an increase by just Rs 125 during the Y S Rajasekhara Reddy rule. The current Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy raised the pension by just Rs 250.
He demanded that YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy should clarify how their party could claim to be the champion of welfare politics.
Ayyana asked whether the Chief Minister had done any soul searching after having betrayed the grannies and granddads by raising their expectations before the elections and not fulfilling them after coming to power. It was in the DNA of Jagan Reddy to mislead the people, trap them and then loot the public money in every possible way, he said.
Expressing concern over the multiple betrayals of AP people under the YSRCP regime, Ayyana asserted that it was the TDP that was the true champion of the welfare of all sections of people. It was during Naidu's regime that the North Andhra region witnessed phenomenal growth with the setting up of industries. Thousands of jobs were created for the youth in the region.
The TDP leader deplored that after Jagan Reddy came to power, Visakhapatnam had slipped into the hands of land-grabbers and the Pulivendula-style settlements became the order of the day. The peace-loving citizens of the North Andhra region were now living in constant fear of extortions, land grabs, humiliations, false arrests, etc.
