CM Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a review meeting with officials on the Polavaram project after the inspection of works and directed them to expedite the works and take all the precautions to be carried out in the completion of the works
CM Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a review meeting with officials on the Polavaram project after the inspection of works and directed them to expedite the diaphragm works so that the main wall works would be started by December. To which the officials had given assurance to the chief minister in completion of works.
Taking a dig at the opposition and a section of media, YS Jagan enraged over them saying that they are spreading false propaganda on the Polavaram project. He said that the section of media is magnifying the small drawbacks in the project with malafide intention to draw criticism against the government.
The Chief Minister on the occasion accused that due to the previous government failures in constructing the project, the cost of the project has increased to by more Rs. 2000 crores.
He said that during the previous government, gaps were left in the upper coffer dam and opined that due to the flow of flood water, the project structures were severely damaged.
Reviewing on the Rahabilitation of displaced families, the chief minister directed the officials to make all the arrangements to the families and to carry out the R and R works bas per schedule. The officials briefed Jagan that the over 12,000 families were shifted. The Chief Minister further suggested the officials to build a bridge at the project to make it as a tourist place.
The officials revealed that the Center has agreed to provide the necessary funds to complete the first phase of the Polavaram project. It has been stated that the Union Finance Department has issued a memorandum approving the giving of Rs. 12,911.15 crores and this has been communicated to the Union Jal Shakti department through a letter.
Earlier, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Polavaram Project on Tuesday morning and conducted an aerial survey of the project. Later, he inspected spillway and upper copper dam works and examined how the work being done there.
The officials explained the progress of the works to Jagan through a photo exhibition and briefed the situation of the diaphragm wall to the CM who reached near the diaphragm wall of the Polavaram project.
