Srikakulam: As part of prevention of post flood problems like spreading of diseases, local youth came forward andstarted cleanliness drive in their villages. Due to Vamsadhara floods, total 78 villages in 10 mandals were submerged by flood water.

Floodwater entered into 30 villages in Bhamini, Kotturu, Hiramandal,LNPeta, Sarubujjili, Amudalavalasa, Jalumurumandals. Teams of officials from Panchayat Raj,

Medical and Health departments launched house to house survey onSaturday in the villages on spread of diseases.

However, youthat Kommanapalli, Acthuthapuram, Kattirivanipeta and other villagestook up cleanliness drive in their villages on Saturday..Panchayat raj, Medical and Health departments' teams are inquiring on spreading of diseases like fevers, diarrhea etc.

Sanitary conditions are not good in flood affected villages, Penugotivada, Vasapa, Mathala, Nivagam, Anguru, Kuddigam, Kesrai,Kosali and other villages in Bhamini, Kotturu, LNPeta, Jalumurumandals.

'Our medical teams comprising Multi-Purpose Health Assistant (MPHA) and Para Medical staff are collecting information in30 villages from Saturday which are affected by floods severely,'' District Medical and Health OfficerMChenchayya explained to TheHans India.

"We have visited flood affected villages in Bhamini, Kotturu mandals along with mandal level staff and inspected sanitary conditions and directed the officials to improve it," District Panchayat Officer (DPO), VRavi Kumar told this newspaper.
