Visakhapatnam: The Waltair Division organised a mock drill, a real-time relief and rescue operations, on Thursday at Simhachalam railway station.
Led by Divisional Railway Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, the safety department and allied railway departments, including commercial, operations, medical, security, civil engineering and National Disaster Response Force rose to the occasion and rescued the passengers from the coaches.
Senior divisional safety officer N R Sahu, ADRM Akshay Saxena and branch officers were present during the drill. Speaking on the occasion, the DRM said, "The exercise aided in checking the preparedness of railway personnel to meet the eventualities and develop communication skills and coordination to cater to tough situation and provide relief operations." Besides 35 NDRF personnel, team from Railway Protection Special Force, RPF, state police, among other wings joined the relief operations.
