VP Venkaiah Naidu pitches for special benches to clear pending cases

Visakhapatnam: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday stated that the government should set up special benches and courts to resolve the long-pending cases. Participating as a chief guest at the 125-year celebrations of Visakhapatnam District court, he said that several cases were pending in courts for many years due to lack of staff, technology upgradation and no awareness on legal matters.
In view of the lapses, special courts and benches should be established to clear the long-pending cases, the Vice President suggested.Addressing the large gathering of advocates and judges, he said the legal houses were playing a vital role to bring healthy developments in the society."In India, there are enough number of acts, but there are several troubles in implementing the acts.
The administration should also take special care in implementing the acts. The administration should also follow the directions and verdicts of courts. There are 3.12 crore cases pending in various courts in the country. The Bar Council should conduct brainstorming session to ensure speedy clearance of the pending cases.
Whoever applies for justice there should be immediate reply from the courts," Venkaiah Naidu said. The Vice President recalled his memories as a law student in Andhra University.Andhra Pradesh High Court Judge Justice A V Seshasai informed that it is a great experience to him to participate in the 125th years celebrations of the Visakhapatnam District Court.
He recalled noted advocates from the Visakhapatnam Bar Association, participated in the freedom fight. Because of the quality of advocacy only the judges are giving verdicts in various critical cases, he complemented.
District Judge Justice A Bhanumathi, Celebrations Committee Chairman M K Sitaramaiah and Visakhapatnam Bar Association president B Ramakrishna were present.
