Vijayawada: Online networking system in the name of andhragreens.com was launched here on Wednesday in association with the kalgudi.com.

After launching the marketing network at his office here, Agriculture Minister K Kannababu said that the andhragreens.com would help the farmers to market their produce and also to supply fresh fruits and vegetables directly to the doorsteps of consumers with the help of the established web portal kalgudi.com.

He said that kalgudi.com is already serving the consumers in Karnataka and Telangana and the Horticulture Department joined hands with it in the State for providing marketing facility to the farmers eliminating the middlemen effectively. "This would provide good income opportunity to the farmers," he added.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the farmers produced 305 lakh metric tonnes of farm produce by cultivating in43 lakh acres throughout the state.

The Minister recalled that since April 16, 8.11 lakh fruit kits were marketed through self-help groups in rural areas and through MEPMA in urban areas.

He complimented the efforts of the officials of Horticulture Department in helping the farmers to market more than 18 lakh metric tonnes of fruits, vegetables and plantation crops.

Horticulture Commissioner Chiranjivi Chowdari, Joint Director Pavuluri Hanumanta Rao, Kalgudi CEO Rajasekhar, FPO representatives Chandramohan Reddy, Kumara Swamy and other officials were present.
