Vijayawada: The police illegally arrested Vamsikrishna, member of the Joint Action Committee of Amaravati Parirakshana Samithi for the simple reason he provided a bus for the women members of the JAC to visit Amaravati protestors, said APSJAC convener A Siva Reddy.

Addressing newsmen at the APS office in Autonagar here on Thursday he said that the mufti police was taken Vamsikrishna away without any information to anyone in an unmarked car. He has been taken around from morning to evening and finally presented in the Sattenapalli court. He made it clear that Vamsikrishna arranged the bus for the women protestors but he did not go with them.

Siva Reddy warned that the criminal cases would be filed against the personnel who took around various places.

He also condemned the arrest of TDP national president N Chandrababu Naidu at the Visakhapatnam airport.

Another JAC member Rajendra said that they never criticised government or its programmes and even the chief minister but still the government had been vindictive against them. "Cases were filed against their members for appealing to MP Nandigam Suresh to raise slogan in favour of Amaravati," he said. He appealed to the judicial courts to ponder over the fabricated cases filed by the police.

JAC co-convener RV Swamy said that the JAC members would meet the prime minister, the home minister and CPM leader Sitaram Yechuri, and others on March 2.
