Vijayawada: Canara Bank to expand the network, services

Vijayawada: Canara Bank Officers Association All India General secretary GV Manimaran has underlined the need to strengthen the Canara Bank after it merged with Syndicate Bank.
Manimaran spoke to the media after the two-day Central committee meeting held in a hotel in Vijayawada on Saturday and Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he said financial position of Canara Bank is very strong and healthy and felt more efforts have to be made to expand the banking services and activities in future.
Referring to the association central committee meeting in Vijayawada, he said the leaders have discussed on increasing of amenities to the bank customers, pay revision, and the pending problems of the bank employees and officers. He has demanded the pay revision should be implemented immediately and recommendations made in the seventh pay revision should be followed.
He recalled that the officers of the SBI have insurance facility and such facility should be extended to the Canara bank officials also. Referring to bank activities, he said the Canara Bank turnover is Rs.10.5 lakh crore and it has 6300 branches across the country.
Manimaran said the Bank turnover will increase to 16 lakh crores with the merger of Syndicate Bank. Association chairman Jagadeesh, president Mehta were present. Over 200 bank officials participated in the two day meeting and discusses various pending issues.
