Every year after completion of Dasara festivals, Bhavanis visit the temple to have darshan of Kanaka Durga

Vijayawada: A massive influx of Bhavanis thronged Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devasthanam hill shrine Indrakeeladri for relinquishment of their sacred Bhavani deeksha as well as to have the presiding deity goddess Sri Kanaka Durga Darshan.

Generally, every year after completion of the Dasara festivals, Bhavanis reach the temple to have Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga darshan. Despite there has been no special arrangements for their deeksha viramana during the Dasara celebrations time, thousands of devotees visit the temple as a customary tradition.

As many as 3 to 4 lakh Bhavanis are expected to visit the temple. Owing to an unprecedented influx of Bhavani devotees, Sri Kanaka Durga temple and its premises have turned red.

It is known that during the Bhavani deeksha, the devotees wear red robes. The rush of the Bhavanis is likely to continue for another two days. Dasara celebrations which commenced on October 15th concluded on October 23rd.

Temple priests and Vedic scholars conducted Poornahuti on Monday to mark the culmination of the Dasara celebrations. Later, celestial Teppostvam was organised in the evening.

This year the celebrations were organised for 9 days as per the Vedic scholars and committee suggestions and Hindu almanac. All the concerned authorities worked hard to make the festivities a success.

Police, Revenue, Municipal and Endowments departments have adopted coordination work to provide hassle-free darshan to the pilgrims.

Meanwhile, this year around 9 lakh devotees visited Sri Kanaka Durga temple during the Dadara 9 days and this number is likely to cross 12 lakh as Bhavani devotees started to come to Vijayawada for their deeksha relinquishment.
