YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy has appealed to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in Rajya Sabha to start a daily express train service between Visakhapatnam and Bangalore. He participated during a debate on the performance of railways in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said, "train service from Visakhapatnam to Bangalore has been a long-standing wish of the people, which will be very much useful for IT professionals travelling from Vishakhapatnam to Bangalore. He also urged the Railway Department to start the Vizag-Pathanam-Varanasi-Allahabad railway service.
Recently, a train carrying refrigerated containers from Tadipatri in Rayalaseema to a port in Mumbai has been successful. He asked the Railway Minister to bring more special trains of this type from Rayalaseema region to Mumbai to export fruits. He said the implementation of the Kisan train service in a public-private partnership would be beneficial to the farmers and the railways.
He said, Railways' revenue surplus also declined significantly in 2016-17. According to CAG, the Revenue surpluses are declining due to diminishing operating costs, shrinkage of other sources of income, staff salaries and pension payments. Sai Reddy urged to focus on Direct Benefit Transfer likewise the passes and discounts offered to different groups. He suggested that only the eligible beneficiaries should benefit and reduce revenue losses. Vijayasai Reddy congratulated Railway Minister Piyush Goyal for taking steps to reduce the number of accidents in the recent past.
