Vice-President describes SAMEER as symbol of pride for country

Visakhapatnam: Vice-President of India M Venkaiah Naidu has called Society for Applied Micro Electronic Engineering and Research (SAMEER) as a symbol of pride for the entire country.

Visiting the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), Industrial Estate at Gambheeram as part of two-day visit to Visakhapatnam, he said SAMEER hold the key to India's success in the field of micro-electronics.

He hailed India for being a guiding light in science since the age of Vedas. "Though the Western countries progressed over a period, the contemporary Indian scientists have proved their prowess in the recent years," the Vice-President said. He recalled in this connection that he had laid the foundation stone for SAMEER when he was the Minister for Urban Development.

He lauded the growth of SAMEER from the stage of conducting microwave research to developing equipment through microwave electronic technology, electro-magnetic environmental effect and other key research areas till the development of equipment for curing cancer.

Commemorating 'Telugu Bhasha Dinotsavam', he spoke on the glory of Telugu and need for everyone to respect their mother language. He reiterated the need for writing in Telugu the names of various business, commercial and government establishments and in order to perpetuate the glory of language.

SAMEER Director General Sulabha Ranade listed out the achievements and developments made by the society, programme director Subba Rao, scientists and others spoke. On the occasion, the Vice-President planted saplings on the campus.
