Tirupati: Senior American diplomat and Regional Public Engagement Specialist (REPS) at the United States Embassy in Delhi, Sarah Ziebell, along with Joe Christopher, Cultural Affairs Assistant, Public Affairs Section, US Consulate General Hyderabad, visited Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) on Wednesday and interacted with the students.

Sarah Ziebell has been managing a portfolio that includes American Space partnerships in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Maldives. She discussed about various programmes offered to impart communication and career skills to students and narrated about nexus programme which extends a 10-week business training to sharpen business skills to initiate startups.

She also mentioned about Fulbright scholarships and educational community initiatives and appealed to students to make use of them. Sarah responded to several queries raised by students on higher education system in the USA, innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities, job opportunities to journalism students in the US.

In-charge Vice-Chancellor Prof V Uma, former V-C Prof V Durga Bhavani, Dean, International Relations Prof P Vijayalakshmi and Associate Dean Prof T Tripura have discussed with US Consulate General team on the possibilities of engaging students and utilising the opportunities offered by US Consulate General.

Prof Uma requested the team to concentrate in Tirupati for academic and exchange programmes as it has evolved as a strong educational hub and many students may be benefited. Responding to this, Sarah Ziebell promised to engage students in virtual presentation organised by Consulate and facilitate SPMVV to invite Fulbright scholars from USA to the campus.

Later, the team visited Technology Business Incubator (TBI) and interacted with CEO Y Mallikarjuna Reddy and his team and appreciated the establishment of highly modern and sophisticated labs in the areas of IoT, life sciences and robotics.
