Two suspects of coronavirus have been isolated in Nellore GGH while 5 people we're self-isolated at their residences. District administration deputed volunteers to check about the family members and others reached from abroad recently.

Nellore: In the wake of the announcement by the State Government 7 people who returned from Italy have quarantined five persons at their residences. It may be recalled that the Government requested voluntary quarantining of 75 persons who were back to India, among them 7 were from Nellore. Two students have already been admitted in Nellore Government General Hospital for isolation and details of the other five persons were unknown.

Meanwhile, the district administration asked all volunteers working in the city and other parts of the district headquarters to check persons from abroad and visited the households recently. They are also asking about the details of anyone coming from abroad. They have collected the data of households in 42 and 47 wards where two people returned from Italy and stayed there.

Chief Secretary Neelam Sawhney conducted a review with the District Collector, SP, and senior medical and health officials on Wednesday night and informed about 7 persons from Nellore who returned from Italy and asked them to quarantine them immediately. Officials also informed that they had taken measures to shift duo to the isolation place.

Dr Swarnalatha, Nodal Officer for coronavirus, informed that they had collected details of the other five persons, and they have been quarantined at their residences in the district. She denied disclosing details of their towns or villages as part of maintaining the secrecy of personal data. She also said they had isolated family members of Nellore based student and others.

Further, locals of Janardhan Reddy colony staged protest resisting accommodation for the corona victims in the government housing. They expressed fears over the spread of the virus to the labourers in the area. CPM leaders also participated.
