Tirupati: TTD is mulling over to promote Old Age Homes and Leprosy Hospitals in the twin Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. TTD Chairman Y V Subba Reddy directed the officials to prepare feasibility reports for setting up such units in both states.

Earlier the TTD Chairman visited the old age home and leprosy hospital at Tirupati on Sunday and directed officials to take up repairs to leaking roofs, repaint rooms and also improve quality of medical and food services to aged inmates.

TTD Chief Medical Officer Dr Narmada explained that there were presently 32 persons in old age homes and 56 patients in leprosy hospital. The Chairman instructed the officials to use vacant buildings available at Tirupati for setting up old age homes and TTD will amend eligibility criteria to enable admission to more persons lacking family support.

Leprosy hospital In-charge Dr Bharat Kumar, HDPP Advisory Committee Cooption member Sri Penchalaiah and other officials were also present.

Subba Reddy also visited the temples of Sri Vakulamata at Perur Banda and Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram. The Chairman saw the gold lacing works underway at Sri Vakola Mata temple taken up by Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy. At the Sri Kalyana Venkateswara temple, DyEO Shanti informed the Chairman that 39,000 devotees had Vaikunta Dwara Darshan on Vaikunta Ekadasi Day.
