Tirupati: Rich tributes were paid to martyr Potti Sriramulu on the occasion of AP State Formation Day which was observed officially across the state on Friday. Floral tributes were paid at the portrait of Sriramulu.

On the occasion, Municipal Commissioner PS Girisha said that Sriramulu sacrificed his life which led to the formation of separate Andhra in 1953 fulfilling the long cherished dream of Telugus to have their own state.

Additional Commissioner Haritha, Deputy Commissioner Chandramouliswara Reddy and others also paid tributes to the departed leader. Tirupati based social organization Praja Nestham president garlanded the statue of Sriramulu here to remember his contribution for the formation of a separate state for Telugus and called on the people of Andhra to rededicate themselves for the development of the state.

City based cultural organisation Rayalaseema Rangasthali office bearers including secretary Gundala Gopinatha Reddy paid tributes to Sriramulu.
