Torrential rains lashed Tirupati and Tirumala on Thursday evening. It started suddenly after blistering heat during the daytime.
Tirupati: Torrential rains lashed Tirupati and Tirumala on Thursday evening. It started suddenly after blistering heat during the daytime. Heavy downpour with thunders disrupted vehicular traffic on busy roads in the evening time.
The roads were flooded with rain water causing huge inconvenience to the people. Several roads like AIR Bypass Road, DR Mahal Road, Gandhi Road, Sunnapu Street, Tiruchanoor Circle, Bandla Street, West Church area, Korlagunta, Leela Mahal area and others were inundated with rain water making people stranded at nearby shops and houses.
Power supply was also disrupted for more than an hour. In Tirumala pilgrims had a tough time in taking shelter from the rain. They gathered at the galleries to witness Sarvabhupala Vahanam which commences at 8 pm. With the unexpected rain, they had to rush nearby places to protect themselves from drenching.
