Recently the committee came to Tirupati for inspection, met Commissioner PS Girisha and collected the details about smart city projects in town
Tirupati : A three-member experts committee from Public Health Engineering Department is preparing a report over the continuation of smart city development works. It may be noted that YSRCP government had appointed the engineering experts committee to review the project's necessity and how much funds will be required for their completion.
The committee had visited the town two months ago and inspected Garuda flyover construction works. Later, a meeting was held in Amaravati with Tirupati Municipal Corporation over smart city works. Two days ago, the committee members came to Tirupati and interacted with Municipal Commissioner PS Girisha and engineering officials.
They collected information about present smart city project works like parks developments, smart water grid and underground electrical cable works.
They made inquiries with the officials over Garuda flyover construction of 6.5 km works.
Garuda Project was stopped by the State Government when YSR Party came to the power. Later Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy wrote a letter to Municipal Administration officials for the continuation of fly overworks.
It may be noted that previous TDP Government had started the Smart City works with Rs 1,600 crore financial aid of Government of India.
In addition to central funds, AP government and TTD also provide funds to the fly overworks. Presently TTD is bearing 60 percent funds 60 % for Garuda mega project completion. Currently, TTDA also kept pending the release of funds.
The experts committee report is going to decide whether the smart city projects will continue or not.
One of the senior engineers said to The Hans India, We had submitted all required information to the expert's committee and they have to decide whether the works will continue or not.''
