Tirupati: Congress leaders paid rich tributes late prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of his 29th death anniversary here on Thursday.

City Congress leader Narasimhulu, Rangaiah, Naveenkumar Reddy and others garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi near Corporation office and recalled his services to the nation's development.

They said Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed his life for the sake of the country . He brought revolutionary changes in communication system paving the way for mobile service to common man d also for IT services in a big way.

Former Union Minister Dr Chinta Mohan paid his tributes to Rajiv Gandhi and recalled his outstanding contribution for development.

He said it was Rajiv Gandhi who strove for strengthening of local bodies, Panchayat Raj system by giving more power to them and to sarpanches and also paved the way for technology revolution.
