Nellore: District SP Aishwarya Rastogi said elaborate security arrangements have been made for the polling day (April 11) in the district. Sixteen border check-posts have been set up for preventing entry of any illegal material from bordering districts. Thirty static surveillance posts, 54 flying squads, and also special protection at 533 critical polling stations have been arranged.

Aishwarya Rastogi said that they have taken measures to conduct elections in a peaceful manner. More than 4,000 police personnel will be deployed for monitoring the security situation on April 11, he stated. Rastogi explained that they had booked one violence case; 28 cases related to violation of Model Code of Conduct (MCC); 32 seizure cases under MCC and 24 cases of Form-7 in the district.

The SP mentioned that they had seized Rs 1.1 crore cash; 7,766 bottles of liquor worth Rs 7.88 lakh; 120 gunny bags of gutkha packets worth Rs 40.76 lakh; 5,180 sarees worth Rs 15.18 lakh; Rs 1.1 crore worth electronic goods, 60 mobile phones, and 2 swords till now.

"We have set up 15 inter-district and one inter-state check posts in the district. These check posts will work round-the-clock and stern action would be initiated against the persons, who lure voters with liquor and other goods and hence they had kept vigil over entry of material from other parts of the country", the SP explained.

He also said that the seized goods would be handed over to the revenue officials and cases would be filed against the persons, who transported the material without valid bills. 30 static surveillance posts at these check posts keep a tab on each and every movement where each team consists of a videographer, revenue staff along with police person, who keep an eye on these check-posts, said

Aishwarya Rastogi. He stated they had identified 511 critical polling locations out of total 1,766 such posts in the district and would deploy additional forces at these locations.
