AP government releases fresh GO, designates election officials
Amaravati:Under Section 28-A of the Representation of People Act, 1951, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has designated the following Police Officers in the State for the purpose of Law & Order and other duties connected with the conduct of General Elections to House of the People and Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly scheduled to be held on 11.04.2019 (Thursday).
In its GO, released on Wednesday, exempted the Intelligence, ACB, Vigilance and other sections in the police dependent from the election duties. That means, the orders of ECI to remove intelligence DG may not be valid.
The officials as mentioned below are designated for election duties.
i) The Director-General of Police, Andhra Pradesh
ii) The Additional Director-General of Police (L&O), O/o DGP, Andhra Pradesh
iii) The Inspectors-General of Police of all the Regions in the State
iv) The Deputy Inspectors General of Police of all the Ranges in the State
v) All Commissioners of Police in the State
vi) All the Superintendents of Police in the State
vii) All the Deputy Commissioners of Police/Sub-Divisional Police Officers connected to conduct of Elections
viii) All the Inspectors of Police connected to conduct of Elections
ix) All the Sub-Inspectors of Police connected to conduct of Elections
x) All the Head Constables connected to conduct of Elections
xi) All the Police Constables connected to conduct of Elections
xii) Any other Police Officials serving for the time being in the Police Department, who are involved in any way in election-related arrangements or performing duties in connection with the conduct of Elections in the State.
The above officers are deemed to be on deputation to the Election Commission of India from 18.03.2019 (Date of Notification) to 27.05.2019 (Date before which election shall be completed) or the date of declaration of result of the said election, whichever is earlier, and accordingly, they shall, during that period, be subject to the control, superintendence and discipline of the Election Commission of India
