TDP senior leader Nandam Subbaiah murdered in Proddutur

Kadapa: Senior TDP leader and party district official spokesperson Nandam Subbaiah, 40, of Proddaturu town was brutally murdered by unidentified persons on Tuesday. He is survived by wife and two children. Police suspect old rivalries might have led to the murder.

The murder took place at the government house sites in Somalavaripalle panchayat of Proddaturu mandal in a broad daylight at 10.15 am.

According to family members of Subbaiah, around 9 am some persons came to the TDP leader's house and asked him to come to Somalavaripalle to sort out problems arose in house distribution. On their request, he went along with them to Somalavaripalle where they suddenly attacked him with lethal weapons after sprinkling chilli powder in his eyes.

Proddaturu DSP Y Prasad Rao, CI Subba Rao, III Town SI Yogendra visited the scene of offence. The DSP said they were investigating whether it was a political murder or a result of financial dispute between the two sides. III Town police registered a case and are investigating.

Following the murder, distribution of house sites in Somalavaripalle has been postponed.

Meanwhile, TDP politburo member R Srinivasulu Reddy accused the hand of local YSRCP leaders behind the murder of Subbaiah. Speaking to media persons after consoling the family members of the deceased in Proddaturu, he pointed out that after YSRCP came to the power attacks on TDP leaders and cadres had become rampant across the state. He demanded that the police immediately arrest the killers and promised to extend all support to the deceased's family.

Former Proddaturu TDP MLA M Linga Reddy said that Subbaiah was murdered only because he had pointed out the anarchy of local YSRCP leaders. He demanded an impartial probe into the incident in to bring the real culprits behind the murder to book.
