Puttaparthi: Sri Sathya Sai District Collector A Shyam Prasad urged citizens to celebrate an eco-friendly Vinayaka Chavithi by installing clay Ganesha idols.
Unveiling an Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) poster titled “Let’s Make Clay Ganesha... Let’s Reduce Pollution” at the Collectorate on Tuesday, he warned that Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols and chemical paints severely pollute local water bodies.
Calling upon devotees to love nature and protect the environment, the Collector requested strict adherence to APPCB guidelines during idol immersion.
APPCB Executive Engineer M Sasikala and Collectorate staff attended the launch.
