Tirupati: The central research facility labelled "Centre for Advanced Research (CfAR)" was inaugurated by its donor Rajiv Shrigopal Bajaj of Vital Laboratories Private Limited, Mumbai and the Director of SVIMS Dr TS Ravikumar on Saturday. CfAR was made possible through Rs 12 crore donation from Vital Laboratories.
During the inauguration, the donor Rajiv Bajaj announced an additional Rs 5 crore donation for the second phase of CfAR to construct three more floors to develop an additional research programmes which include genes & environment, regenerative medicine and stem cells: mother and child health, injuries, research and nanoscience. Located within the CfAR is the newly developed HTIIC in partnership with Kotii Group of Technological Ventures Private Limited.
Ribbon cutting ceremony for HTIIC was held in the presence of Kotii Saripalli, Founder and Chairman of Kotii Group and Dr TS Ravikumar. The national best practice model of Real time Actionable Patient Experience of Care developed by Kotii–SVIMS partnership, was showcased during the inaugural session.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director said "I envision CfAR as an iconic contribution to the nation. This helps to create patient oriented discoveries and creating new knowledge in managing the population towards creating happy communities through health. CfAR would create a milieu for high performing research minds to come together, do research and interact among themselves and creating 'University without borders.
On this occasion, Rajiv Shrigopal Bajaj and team toured the CfAR building to know the facilities available there and acknowledged the efforts of Dr Ravikumar. SVIMS Sri Balaji Arogya Varaprasadini Scheme received donations of Rs 6,22,51,000 on Saturday from different donors. Rajiv Shrigopal Bajaj, Director, has donated Rs 5 crore; Lalith Seth, Bombay has donated Rs 1 crore; Vraj Cements Carriers LLP., Arakkonam has donated Rs 20 lakh and Ashish, Director, Finman Advisory Services Private Limited. has donated Rs 2.51 lakh.
The Director said that with the latest contribution of Rs 5 crore, so far, Rajiv Bajaj has donated a total of Rs 41 crore to SVIMS. He felicitated Rajiv Bajaj and his wife Deepika Bajaj and called them as 'Bill and Melinda Gates' of SVIMS taking note of their generosity.
