Vijayawada: Former Minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao and social activist Anumolu Gandhi on Friday felt that the shifting of capital from Amaravati is not possible.

Speaking to media persons here, they said the capital city should be constructed in a phased manner by taking into consideration of financial constraints being faced by the State government. He pointed out that the State government and Central governments spent huge amounts of money for capital city construction.

Reacting to the exit of the Singapore government from the capital city project, they said that it augured well. They said the Singapore Company would have been benefited by the contract rather than the State. They said there is no need to worry about the Singapore company's exit from the capital project.

There is no such huge land requirement for capital construction and the fertile lands should not be used for construction, they said. The State government and capital experts committee should take an appropriate decision in this regard. The government should utilise the infrastructure and other facilities which were already provided in the capital city for administration purpose, they said.
