SP Siddharth Kaushal: Police file 20,451 bind over cases on civic body polls in Prakasam
SP says if any bind over person breaches the rules, stringent action will be initiated as per the act
Ongole: Prakasam Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal announced that they have booked 20,541 bind over cases as part of the precautionary measure for smooth conduct of local body elections in the district.
The SP said that he has allotted the duties and responsibilities to the police personnel for ZPTC, MPTC, municipal and panchayat elections and was reviewing all election-related procedures every day to ensure any unwanted situations not occurred by taking all necessary actions in advance.
Explaining about the precautionary measures, he said that they have filed 1,507 cases and booked bind over cases against 20,451 people under sections 107 and 110 (E) of CrPC.
He said that if any bind over person breaches the rules, stringent action will be initiated as per the act and the surety bonds of money or property will be attached and put them behind the bars as per court orders In the enforcement, the SP explained that 133 litres of liquor bottles were seized in 14 cases and 305 litres of arrack was seized from 15 persons and filed cases on them and destroyed about 10,000 litres of locally manufactured liquor in the western area.
He disclosed that 24-hour surveillance was running in the district and ordered the concerned personnel to execute non-bailable warrants at a high pace.
He said that 414 of 550 licensed weapons in the district were handed over to police and requested the contestants and public to cooperate with police for the peaceful conduct of elections.
