The members of JVV organise Vanta-Vaarpu and consume food

Kurnool: Jana Vignana Vedika state general secretary Spandana Suresh regretted that majority of people are following superstitions in the country with regard to eclipses. On the occasion of solar eclipse, the JVV has organised "Vanta Vaarpu" programme besides viewing of eclipse in front of Government General Hospital in the city on Sunday.

Addressing on the occasion Spandana Suresh said that the eclipse, either lunar or solar, are the wonders which happen in the solar system. ``People believe that the eclipse would do them harm if viewed or come out during the eclipse period. Particularly the pregnant women are not allowed to come out of the houses,'' he said.

When the eclipse doesn't harm other living things, then how will it harm only human beings, said Suresh. To drive out the superstition, the JVV organised a "Vanta Vaarpu' programme at Birla compound. After cooking food the members ate the food.

The people also viewed the eclipse with the help of dark glasses.

District committee members of JVV, Shiva Nagi Reddy, Pratap Reddy, Veeresh, Bande Navala, Manikyam, Sreekanth, Chandrasekhar, Lokesh and others participated in the programme.
