Sexual attacks on women, children condemned PDSU
he Women Empowerment Cell of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala and Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU), Vijayawada committee jointly organised a seminar on ‘Sexual attacks on Women and Children’ in the college premises here on Tuesday.
Vijayawada: The Women Empowerment Cell of Siddhartha Mahila Kalasala and Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU), Vijayawada committee jointly organised a seminar on 'Sexual attacks on Women and Children' in the college premises here on Tuesday.
Advocate Gangabhavani, the chief guest of the programme condemned the attacks on women and children in society and expressed her grief over the rape and murder on a nine-month-old at Warangal recently. She said that women are treated as puppets in the hands of men and the attacks on women and children are on the rise.
She said that women should boldly face the situation and should not get depressed with these kinds of situations. College director Dr T Vijayalakshmi said that in spite of women being educated, attacks on women and girl students are on the rise these days. This can be controlled only through awareness among them on the attacks.
College principal M Nalini said in the present society women and children are subject to various kinds of attacks which are increasing day by day. They are suffering sexual harassment and attacks in their day-to-day life. The present generation should have awareness on how to tackle the situation tactfully.
PDSU city secretary P Padma expressed her anguish over the attack on nine-month-old. She said that there is some problem with the people in society for the attacks on women and children. College faculty, students and others were present.
